The Wind Ensemble is the premier concert ensemble of the Ball State University band program. Selected by audition from the most outstanding wind and percussion performers on the Ball State campus, the ensemble performs the finest available repertoire for wind band regardless of instrumental dispensation and is committed to only the highest musical standards. The ensemble has been involved in numerous commissioning projects and regularly hosts outstanding guest conductors, artists and composers from throughout the United States.
In addition to exploring traditional and contemporary works for full band, the ensemble performs one-on-a-part chamber music representing all periods and styles. The band maintains an active schedule including three or more concerts per semester, tours in the spring semester, and regular appearances at state and national music events.
Recent performances by the Wind Ensemble include the 2012 Convention of the American Bandmasters Association, the 2011 CBDNA National Convention in Seattle, and the 2011 IMEA Professional Conference. In addition, the ensemble has performed at the 2010 CBDNA North Central Regional Convention at Illinois State in Normal, Illinois and the 2009 MENC North Central Convention in Indianapolis.
